Christian Family Movement

Christian Family Movement (CFM) is a Christian organization dedicated to developing happier, healthier, and more loving families through the promotion of Christian attitudes, values, and actions. We support and affirm one another and strive to help develop a caring society that not only recognizes, but actively supports family life.

CFM was organized in the 1940s by Catholic couples in Chicago, IL and South Bend, IN. It involved laymen and laywomen working together to deepen their faith and live a family style spirituality. Organized nationally in 1949, CFM became an ecumenical movement in the 1960s. CFM celebrated its 50th Anniversary in July 1999 at the University of Notre Dame with families in attendance from all over the United States and Canada.

St. Gabriel Church has been the home of CFM for over 25 years. The first groups were organized in January 1985 under the leadership of Don and Becky Aukland with the blessing of Msgr. Dollen, who had been active in CFM in the 1950s. Our motto has always been, "Taking the time to make a difference."
